Torn between duty and survival, nothing can be the same. Everything
Ivy Morgan thought she knew has been turned on its head. After being
betrayed and then nearly killed by the Prince of the Fae, she’s left
bruised and devastated—and with an earth-shattering secret that she must
keep at all costs. And if the Order finds out her secret, they’ll kill
her. Then there’s Ren Owens, the sexy, tattooed Elite member of
the Order who has been sharing Ivy’s bed and claiming her heart. Their
chemistry is smoking hot, but Ivy knows that Ren has always valued his
duty to the Order above all else—he could never touch her if he knew the
truth. That is, if he let her live at all. Yet how can she live with
herself if she lies to him? But as the Fae Prince begins to close
in on Ivy, intent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld,
Ivy is running out of options. If she doesn’t figure out who she can
trust—and fast—it’s not only her heart that will be torn apart, but
civilization itself. (Goodreads)
I loved Torn and I just couldn't put this book down! I've been anxiously awaiting the release of the sequel to Wicked for a while and it was definitely worth the wait.
Torn picks up right where Wicked left off. Ivy is still recovering after almost being killed and now she has learned a secret that the Order can never know.
Ivy continues to develop and grow in Torn. She went through a lot in Wicked and was betrayed by someone she thought she could always rely on. She stays determined though and doesn't back down, which is something that I admire about Ivy. She faces many new obstacles in this book and she realistically struggles with what choices to make.
I absolutely love the side characters in this series as well. I loved seeing Ren and Tink once again and seeing them both develop more. I especially thought that Tink was developed much more in this book and I loved learning more about him. Then there is the relationship between Ivy and Ren. I love the balance between them and seeing their relationship grow.
The plot was paced well and I found it so difficult to put this book down for long. I loved jumping back into this world that Armentrout created and the setting in New Orleans. Torn was packed with drama, romance, action, and surprising twists. This book definitely kept me guessing and there were times that I really didn't know what would happen next. The humor that I love and have come to expect in Armentrout's books was present throughout. I was literally laughing out loud at times, especially during some particular moments with Tink. The humor helped balance out some of the more darker moments that were taking place though.
Overall I loved Torn and I can't wait for the next book! If you're a fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout's previous books or if you're looking for an exciting New Adult story, then I highly recommend picking up this series. You won't want to put it down.
