As yearbook photographer, Harper is responsible for those candid moments that make high school memorable. But her own life is anything but picture perfect. Her parents’ bitter divorce left her wondering what a loving relationship looks like. And ever since the senior class voted her and star quarterback Brody “Perfect Couple That Never Was,” her friends have been pushing her to ask Brody out. Brody doesn’t lack female admirers, but Harper can't see herself with him. He’s confused about the match too. Yet they find themselves drawn together—first by curiosity about why the class paired them, then by an undeniable bond. The trouble is, though they’re attracted to each other, they have a hard time getting along or even communicating well. If they’re the perfect couple, this shouldn’t be so difficult! Soon it becomes clear their class was wrong, and they throw in the towel. But they feel so changed from making the effort, they can’t forget each other. What if this match made in hell is the perfect couple after all? (Goodreads)

I liked Perfect Couple. I've been a fan of a Jennifer Echols for years and this was another cute contemporary book by her.

Perfect Couple is the story of Harper who is voted the "Perfect Couple" superlative with Brody. Harper and Brody couldn't be more different. Harper is the yearbook photographer and dating the editor. Brody is the football quarterback and a known player. However the superlative brings Harper and Brody closer together and they just can't seem to stay away from each other.

I liked Harper a lot. She has her own unique style and has a real passion for photography. Her passion for photography was actually one of my favorite aspects about her. It was clear how much she loved taking pictures every time she had her camera out. Harper was a realistic teen girl as well and she questions her identity. She is unsure of herself and of what she wants at times.

Then there was Brody and I really liked him a lot too. There was a lot more to him than originally meets the eye. I especially loved how loyal Brody was to his friends. This book is filled with so many great side characters and I love how these characters all show up throughout the whole series. I especially loved the scenes where they all hang out together. The romance between Harper and Brody was cute and the chemistry was definitely there. However, it felt really rushed at times. I would have liked to see it develop more naturally.

The plot was paced fast as well. It made it easy to finish this book quickly, however it meant that the development wasn't all there. I would have definitely preferred to see some moments of this book slowed down. There was a good balance of drama and romance within in the book though. I especially enjoyed the side storyline between Harper and her mother. However that was another aspect I really would have loved to see developed more thoroughly.

Overall I liked Perfect Couple. It was a really cute contemporary story that is a part of a fun series.

  1. Jennifer Echols is always good for a quick, light read. I haven't heard much about this one, but it sounds great. I loved photography when I was younger, so I'll most likely enjoy that aspect a lot, too. Thanks for the review!
