"Sydney Sage is an
Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to
bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire
secrets—and human lives. In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked
everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her
feelings hidden from the Alchemists. Now in the aftermath of an
event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick
up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they
have to survive. For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by
adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity
and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in
the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle
proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of
him. . . . Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and
Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment
in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are
off." (Summary from goodreads.com)
Silver Shadows is another great addition to the Bloodlines series. After the cliffhanger in The Fiery Heart I was dying to read Silver Shadows and it was absolutely worth the wait. This series just keeps getting better and better, if that is even possible. I just really love how Mead expanded on this world she created.
Silver Shadows picks up shortly after where The Fiery Heart left off. Sydney is locked away in reeducation while Adrian feels helpless in trying to find her. I liked that we saw a bit of a different side to both of these characters in this book and I think that it helped further develop them. This especially applies for Sydney. Sydney goes through a lot in this book, but I love that it really shows how strong and resilient she is. I also loved seeing some familiar characters again from the Vampire Academy series.
I once again loved how the chapters alternated between them because it really helped move the story along. The plot was action-packed and the story never slowed. I couldn't put this book down for long because I just had to know what would happen next. This book was definitely the darkest in the series so far and I liked that it really stood out as different when compared to the series as a whole.
Overall I loved Silver Shadows and I can't wait to read what will happen next. I definitely recommend picking this series up!
