The Reading Geek is officially two years old!
For my blogiversary this year, I will be having three days of giveaways to celebrate! :) (So make sure you stop by again tomorrow)
For day one I thought I would share with you the story of how The Reading Geek came to be.
For day one I thought I would share with you the story of how The Reading Geek came to be.
I had already been following quite a few blogs and in October of 2010 I started to consider actually starting my own blog. I wanted to be a part of community that loved books and I wanted to help get the word out about the books that I was reading. I couldn't figure out what to call my blog though. As I started brainstorming names there was still nothing that stood out to me. That was until I was at New York Comic Con. As soon as I walked through the doors on that first morning, I was handed a pin. If you flipped the pin one way it said nerd and if you flipped it another way it said geek. While standing in line my sister and I kept joking around about whether we were a geek or a nerd. It was eventually decided that I was a geek. By the end of that day I came up with the name The Reading Geek and a couple of weeks later I created this blog. It eventually took yet another week to decide which book to review first. I finally decided on The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting because it had been the most recent book that I just couldn't stop thinking about. I had no idea what I was doing and I still get confused about plenty of blogging stuff. However, I have met so many wonderful bloggers that have helped me along the way. I love talking to so many of you all on Twitter and visiting your blogs! There is actually one blogger in particular though who I want to say thank you to and that would be Anna at Literary Exploration. Anna is just awesome and has provided me with so much great advice. If you don't already, then I highly recommend checking out her discussion posts!
It's now two years later though and I have posted over two hundred reviews. :)

I never imagined that my love for reading could grow but because of this blog it has. Commenting on other blogs and writing up reviews has become my favorite part of the day. Thank you to every single follower or reader who takes a moment to visit this blog!
