"It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall. Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests. Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess."(Summary from goodreads.com)

Aimee Carter's The Goddess Test is the story of Kate who moves back to her mother's childhood hometown while her mother is dying. While in the new town, Kate meets Henry who brings a girl back to life. Henry claims to rule the Underworld and Kate agrees to stay with him while he keeps her mother alive. If Kate passes the seven tests then she will become the goddess of the Underworld as well as Henry's wife.

I enjoyed the premise of The Goddess Test and thought it was interesting especially because I love Greek mythology. I liked Kate and how selfless of a character she was. I also sympathized a great amount for her as she takes care of her mother. Henry grew on me the more I read and I liked that his relationship with Kate developed at a steady speed.

I felt that the plot was rushed a bit, especially in the beginning. I did enjoy the last few chapters the most though and the ending had a few surprises that I was not expecting. Overall I really enjoyed The Goddess Test and I am excited to see where the story will go next.
