"Wendy thought she finally understood who she was and what she wanted, but everything changes when the rival Vittra come after her.
She's caught between two worlds, torn between love and duty, and she must decide what life she is meant to lead." (Summary from www.amandahocking.blogspot.com)

Amanda Hocking’s Torn is the second installment in the Trylle Trilogy and picks up immediately where the first book, Switched, ended. After learning that she is a changeling, switched at birth, and is in fact a troll and a princess in Trylle. Wendy Everly has run away, leaving her new found life as a princess with her unfeeling mother the queen, to return to Matt, the overprotective brother that raised her. The plot moves right along and the reader is soon introduced to new and exciting characters such as Loki who has a unique ability and belongs to the enemies, the Vittra. Another new character is the underestimated Duncan, who becomes Wendy’s new tracker.

Other beloved characters from Switched return as well, such as Rhys, Tove, and Willa; who all bring a distinctive presence to the story. The impossible romance between Wendy and her protector Finn only gets more complicated and Wendy learns that she has not been told the complete truth about her past and future. She matures greatly in this story while realizing that it may finally be time to accept her responsibilities.

I enjoyed Torn as well as the first book, Switched, for its originality. The trolls in this story aren’t like the average storybook concept of a troll. There is a wide variety of characters which makes it possible for readers to find a relatable character. Amanda Hocking possesses a unique writing ability and creates realistic characters with great depth. Torn is a fresh new book that will not disappoint. I highly recommend Torn as well as Hocking’s vampire series, My Blood Approves. I also highly recommend Hocking’s zombie story, Hollowland.
